Schools

     Currently, the games are being used at the New Kituwah Academy and Cherokee Central High School in Cherokee, North Carolina. They are also a part of the special collections at the Hunter Library at Western Carolina University and have been added to the learning materials collection at the imagiNATIONS Activity Center in the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC.

Research Expo

      Hannah Faub submitted her work, documenting the Cherokee Word Game project and her continued involvement in revisions, to the 2017 National Conference of Undergraduate Research (NCUR) in Memphis, Tennessee, and to the 2017 Undergraduate Research EXPO at Western Carolina University, and was accepted into both.

Sarah Cook and Hannah were both recipients of a WCU Intentional Learning Grant to cover expenese to the Washington, DC to deliver the games to the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian.

Moving Forward

      The revisions based on the various user feedback required work beyond the semester. Hannah Faub, one of the designers for the card game, expressed interest in continuing to work on the games and implement revisions. There have been many revisions extending into two semesters beyond the spring 2016 semeste,r when the project was introduced to the class.

      Professor LaFratta has begun discussions with Primal Screen, a dynamic media design firm in Atlanta, GA, about translating one of the games into a mobile game app.
